I hate that comment "worth hiring." What does it mean? Are our lives measured in what we're worth to someone economically? Because that's what that phrase is saying.
Only in America would we deliberately foster a deadly epidemic among ourselves so that a few on the top could make a pile of money. Only in America.
I would have told them to go to hell.
Congratulations to the Vermont Senate as well as Representative Sam Young. They see the light on this issue, as I'm sure that the number of "in the 80s" that Rep. Young mentioned do as well. The roadside stuff is is just a ruse so that the police can keep making more money on pot busts
"He doesn't have a good grasp on the number of people ticketed for marijuana possession."
oh, he knows alright. He just wants the state to keep making money by busting people.
As John as said here, this was a political move more than anything. This had nothing to do with education. Both sides knew that they could not change union negotiations in the middle of them by waving a wand. This was a grandstanding affair by the governor, showing how tough he could be for his base and election next year. He was clever to use the ruse of property tax relief, for reasons we all know, when he was really trying to destroy collective bargaining and the unions and take that $26 million and put it somewhere else and the property tax payer might have got $10 or $20 bucks back. He was also clever in doing it at the last minute. Yet, I wonder if this was not something else too. Since when does a governor order a legislature to do something as though he or she is boss of it?
Re: “Johnson Boots Rep Off Committee for Insisting on Quorum Vote”
Johnson was right. Browning forced Johnson to call them back when there was no need and it endangered their health/safety and ours as well. I think Johnson should have done it to Rep. Joy Sullivan too for her vote to deny us paid family/sick leave. She, too, should be pulled from her committee. Now look where we are because of it. Sullivan basically said with her vote that those of us under a certain social strata are worthless. Browning has said as much too with her move. I'm glad the Speaker finally did this.
