Re: “Man Who Lit City Hall Fire Committed Despite Mental Health Department's Objection

The whole situation is shameful. On many layers, at different times, someone passed the buck. Things fall thru the cracks, like sanity, and possibilities, and lives. Not much is left but desperate acts.

Re: “Montpeculiar: Lawmakers Hear From America's 'Most Successful' Sex Worker

I was astonished to see this headline. With the horrendous and absolutely evil problems of human trafficking, sex slavery and kidnapping in this country and the world, isn't it obvious that prostitution is a fine line away? Legalizing it, on the face of it seems is a very dangerous step.

Re: “Welch Questions Trump's Rationale for Suleimani Strike, Seeks Hearings

Welch, Vermont does not need a poster boy for the DNC/Clinton globalist agenda. If you can't use the brain in your head to see what's really going on, then you're useless. Give the job to someone who can, and who has the guts to do so.

Re: “Runaway Train? Burlington Has Little Say in Waterfront Railroad Plans

Vermont Rail Systems are not good neighbors, though they go far trying to convince you of that. Putting a salt shed on the banks of the LaPlatte River in Shelburne Village?? Horrible. The noise has caused huge grief in nearby neighborhoods. At least, in our legal battle, we were able to reduce the number of the ginormous sheds to 2, from 4.

Also, during that period, many posts showed up on our Front Porch Forum lambasting and trolling our selectboard who worked so hard on that case, and glorifying Vermont Rail Systems ... These posts turned out to be from fake identities!!

So yes, IMHO VRS will stoop to astonishing lows in their fight to get what they want, regardless of the cost to the environment, the neighborhoods, or the wishes of the citizenry. Ask folks in Charlotte who had their own VRS battle a few years ago. VRS was positively vindictive and malicious in their behavior.

Watch 'em like a hawk. Don't put anything past them.

Re: “Pit Happens: How Readers Would Fill the Hole That Is CityPlace Burlington

It is a distressing situation. I enjoyed reading the fantasies, but in reality, it's a very tough situation. Burlington needs housing that's affordable, desperately... Who can come up w a creative idea in which the developers can make a profit, low-income housing is provided, spaces for significant public and private uses are provided ... Seems like it will take some outofthebox thinking...

Re: “A High School Senior's 'Knotty' Artwork Is Censored

I'm saddened by the decision to cancel her showing. Along with her explanation, I think it would have been a great exhibit. For the administrator to not even consider a few "inoffensive" photographs, or engage in a conversation with the student artist, however, is contrary to his very position and purpose, in my mind. Sounds like, in his mind, he had already dealt with the situation and it was a done deal, just wanted it off his desk. Too bad.

Re: “Sampling the Ready-to-Eat Options at the Burlington Farmers Market

loved the article! Got me all intrigued and anticipating my return to the 802 later this summer to indulge in the whole scintillating experience!
