Re: “Obituary: Sanders Milens, 1938-2019

SAndy Oh My. I remember years ago, talking with you outside lightworks when they were on Pine St. You had a car full of equipment. We were talking about how strobe lights got too hot and what to do about it. You opened up the back of your station wagon, the rear end sloping a bit downward due to weight of equipment and showed me your strobe lights. You had taken your drill to the back end of the lights and put 12 or more holes in each one, so they would cool down. Then later on when we both had studios at the Chase Mill, I was amazed once more with your ingenuity. You had made a soft box almost as big as your studio...the size of a small bedroom. You were a sturdy influence on my work, and wonderful friend. The world will be strange without you and your humor. RIP Sandy. Bet you will hang out with Fred Hill, too, and fix more strobe lights. Ciao And my best to Muffie.

Re: “Obituary: Madelyn Linsenmeir, 1988-2018

May your freely sharing your daughters struggles with others, allow others to find peace of mind here. We all were so at a loss with Tara Smith for 14 years of cocaine addiction, which took her life a few years ago. She had two children. As we watched her in and out of the hospital for blood infections, and heart surgery. She lost all of her beautiful teeth, she lost her job, she lost her kids, she lost her husband, but some madness just kept sending her back into the world of cocaine. She would lie, steal, prostitute herself, anything to get more drugs.
She even turned in several big dealers to the police in her few moments of sobriety. I felt so hopeless. As I am sure you did too. Did you read Dreamland? Thank you for reaching out. Peace

Re: “Burlington School Board Blocks Construction of Preschools

Thank you to all for taking the time to BREATHE
We voted money solely for improving the sad conditions of the schools. No where was there any mention or new schools, much less their design. Please please take care of deferred maintenance that you showed us in the slide show. And please make schools handicap accessible. I am sure the 30 kids who have to wait could be put in a temporary building, as I have seen you do in the past.
Miro has fast trackked a marina...who knows about this...city hall park where 33% will be paved over and 2/3 of the trees removed, the majority of which are healthy, the 14 story mall has added and subtracted items who can follow this And NO ONE ever saw any drawing until this spring when Miro was saying GO GO GO ...
