Re: “Vermont Authors Fest

I am the producer of the Vermont Authors Fest at the Craftsbury Farmers Market tomorrow, 10am - 1pm.

The event is perhaps the largest gathering of Vermont authors ever in an informal, up-close setting including the Poet Laureate of Vermont and at least one NYT bestselling author. Authors of many writing genres will be present to talk with, autograph books, offer books for sale and perform readings. Find them under the "big tent".

Come early to assure you get to meet and talk with all of the forty authors you want to.

The raffle of books donated by the authors will benefit the Craftsbury Public Library.

Re: “Leunig's General Manager/Co-owner Bob Conlon Retires

Congratulations Bob on your retirement! Although our paths haven't crossed for many years, Sally and I still remember our enjoyable visits to Leunig's, a staple of downtown Burlington.

Re: “Data Dive: As Opioid Crisis Ramped Up, Pills Flowed Into Vermont by the Millions

Ive seen lots of press about the role of pharmaceutical makers, their distributors and pharmacies in what caused the opioid crisis including Andreas recent article presenting lots of distribution metrics.

As far as I know, opioids are prescription controlled. I have not seen that any of the millions of pills manufactured were stolen and/or sold on the black market by their makers or distributors. My conclusion is that these millions of pills were prescribed by doctors.

I haven't seen a deep dive into what the role of hospitals and individual doctors has been. Where are the stats of which VT hospitals and doctors prescribed opioids? What are the stats by hospital and doctor?

Re: “Walters: House Speaker, Union Leaders Very Publicly Air Grievances

VTNEA says the Governor's plan is "...an unacceptable infringement on collective bargaining rights."

We, the taxpayers of Vermont have rights too. Most of us never had the ability to strike to get what we wanted. Take away the ability to strike and I might have move sympathy for the VTNEA.

Re: “A Huntington Couple Plan to Turn Their Land into a Cohousing Community

I continue to enjoy Marijke and Mark's odyssey from Vermont's Northeast Kingdom. They are among the most interesting couples I have ever met. I first met Mark in the mid-90s when he was the publisher of Locomotive & Railway Preservation based in the Blue Seal building in Richmond, VT. Whatever they do is topnotch.

Re: “Pizzeria Verità to Buy Trattoria Delia and Sotto Enoteca

Congratulations John and Leslie on your upcoming purchase of Tratt. Living in Vermont's NEK, we don't get to Burlington often, but I still remember the romantic evenings Sally and I spent at the Tratt.

Re: “Hatchet Tap & Table Coming to Richmond

Richmond is already blessed with great eateries like Toscano Cafe Bistro, Sonoma Station and Kitchen Table Bistro. The addition of Hatchet Tap & Table (was Bridge Street Cafe), Sweet Simone's Bakery (was Richmond Beverage) and Parkside Kitchen (was On the Rise Bakery) is very exciting and will strengthen Richmond's foodie attraction.
