Re: “Paul McRae Routly

Paula and Angie:

I am very sorry to hear about the passing of Pam and Paul. I am disappointed with myself for not reaching out more to Pam, recently, but when I saw her about 1995, she took a downward spiral, and I was not prepared to have that happen again.
There were many things I got from Pam: Horses, bicycling, her work ethic, science.

Pam and I would challenge each other in trysts, like spying on boys playing in the woods in Princeton, making our younger sisters recite the pledge of allegiance, sneaking into cabin john ice skating rink or skipping school to hike to Montgomery mall.

I shared your distress as we watched Pam struggle. Being with Pam as a teenager when the disorder began has made me a better parent to my teen-aged sons. I wanted to get in touch with Pam again a few years ago but the experience I had with her relapsing in 1995 kept me away.

I have told my boys the funny, and sad, stories about my friend, Pam. We did have fun together!
