Re: “New Owners Take the Reins at Burlington's Daily Planet

Ian Cyr was a real class act at Bluebird Tavern - always treated my partner and I with style whenever we were there. We were thrilled when we saw him at Starry Night years later. Very happy for him!

kawksw - sounds like a personal gripe you've got going there.

Re: “Kesha Ram to Run for Lieutenant Governor

"knowyourassumptions" - Ram is a Democrat. But she does work for a Republican (here in Burlington) who's disguised as a Democrat.

Re: “Weinberger Says He Won't Support Housing in South End Enterprise Zone

There's no reason for the artist to label what was done here as "snarky." It implies that this was something derogatory, or the subject of it deserves less criticism than was given.

Miro is, simply put, a huckster disguised as a leader. That is all. He claims to see a "serious housing challenge" but that's merely just spin for seeing opportunities to once more benefit his backers: the developers, real estate brokers, and construction firms that financed his path to office.

Re: “Lawmakers: Bruce Lisman Plans to Run for Governor

Why does America keep turning to members of the business community to (potentially) lead us politically? Failures or not, what is it about their ultimate goal of making financial profits for the few that makes us think they can, or should, help manage the humanitarian needs of the many, especially seeing as the two things have been historically and contemporarily incompatible.

Re: “Efficiency Advocate Feliciano Loses His Job at Keurig

Very hard to feel sorry for Dan because:

1. He's already so well connected/known due to his political actions that unlike most people in this situation he's going to land on his feet. And...

2. He gained public prominence belonging to a party/subscribing to an ideology which approves of endangering human beings and their security/safety all for private profit.

Perfect irony.

Re: “Frustration Over Police Chief Search Prompts Calls for Change

benjyadler - I'm surprised, I guess, you don't consider Miro a friend after all the friendly support he gave your business (see my last comment). Ah, well, you and I define friendship differently, as I'm certain we define "underpaying" differently too. Though having the Mayor on your side certainly gives your definition more political, if not moral, heft.

As far as del Pozo goes, you stand with one power player's "very articulate" endorsement over the thoughtful and legitimate concerns of the larger public. So, as I said before, unsurprised.
