The film in question is not sincere about creating communication because it ignores the two principal elements of the diverse white American peoples...our richly-textured diversity and our actual nationality.
It is normal in this era of reductionism to try to portray all the diverse white Americans as clones of each other. Even President Obama did it in 1988 two days after his famous race speech when he referred to his own grandmother as "a typical white prson." And we know that media, entertainment, and academia form a wall against recognizing our diversity and nationality ("American"). Yes, we are diverse and yes, we are Americans. Without recognizing that, we cannot move forward and this movie (unless it serves as a kind of passive-aggressive micro-aggression) will not enhance communication.
In case readers don't believe that the diverse white Americans are diverse, here is an example. We divide along IQ lines with 1/2 of us having IQs above 100 and 1/2 of us having IQs below 100. That's a beginning place for recognizing white diversity.
