Re: “Vermont House Passes Single-Use Plastic Bag Ban

@ethanrogati great question...we stopped all single use plastics about 6 years ago. First grocer bags, then containers, then veg bags and so on...

We have some basic reusables that we use for packaged items, we're vegetarian so we don't need to worry about meat juice (good band name) but we do have 4 canvas bags that hold the "other" stuff. After a trip if they seem like they got something on them, like our clothing, they get tossed in the hamper and washed with clothes.

I wash all our bags once a month and even have two large, plastic-y ikea bags for most anything else and they can be hosed off or wiped down.

Re: “Vermont House Passes Single-Use Plastic Bag Ban

If you have a problem with this then I'm guessing you're not down with doing anything necessary to mitigate our current environmental impact? We stopped using plastic bags in 2008 when I was given 4 free reusables at an event. We have those same four, plus enough to use for any type of shopping trip - mall, grocer, market, etc...

It's not a big deal, it's not something to complain about, it's not worth the negative effort to keep others from switching over. Always moving forward....let's go!

Re: “Activists Demand Burlington Fire Cops Involved in Violent Incidents

Yes Patrick, it's just you.

If an employee of any company has a pattern of any negative behavior, it is 100% addressed. I'm not walking into meetings with other senior managers swinging when I don't get my way.

None of these incidents (attacks) warranted the use of force by those employees. Cops are just employees. And we fire bad employees everywhere else, time to start here.

Re: “Violence Caught on Camera Leads to Brutality Claims Against Burlington Cops

There is no reason not to treat people like actual people. I've been in so many countries where the police are respected and intelligent and kind. This speaks to what we use our cops for, how they are treated and allowed to treat us and what we view as acceptable reactions in tense situations.

Our system attracts violence and racism. Wipe the slate in Burlington.

Re: “Citing Mueller Report Remarks, Vermont GOP Dings Sanders on Burlington College

Wow, the overall Republican feel of Seven Days is super weird considering they seem to identify as uber liberal. Not super reader-ing anything next year. Always such close minded and judgmental comments.

The case was closed. Done. And over a year ago, let's try to stay current, no?

Re: “You've Got Hate Mail: Are This Man's Awful Screeds Protected Speech?

Not sure where Patrick is getting his information from? 2 tweets and a stare? Guess we know how you feel about POC in Vermont. BFP article in January of this year has a more accurate number and additional details you can look up for a more appropriate/truthful account. "Police responded to complaints by Morris or her family at least 16 times in the last two years, records show." He admitted to more than that.

Plus "Mr. Misch" is a big ol racist, why take the time to defend him? Unless....

This is the #1 reason people thought we were crazy to move to Vermont, too many white people never make for a better experience.

Re: “Hooked: How So Many Vermonters Got Addicted to Opioids

A super hard read. Thank you for sharing your story and others stories. Time to just make everything legal and help people monitor the use. Sorry but nothing else is working and I bet those 110 families that lost someone last year would agree that it'd be better than losing someone.
