Right on the money Joe. My thoughts exactly.

Re: “Safe Injection Sites? Medical Professionals, Law Enforcement Weigh In

Maybe they could open up a facility for the chronic wife beaters so they pound up their wife in a safe place. This way they would be supervised so they wouldn't be able to beat the wife to death. After all, chronic wife beating is an illness isn't it.

Re: “Vermont Senate Votes to Increase the Legal Age for Gun Buyers to 21

Just for everyones info-the AR in the gun named AR-15 stands Armalite Rifle, not assault rifle. Armalite is the company that developed the rifle in the 1950's.

Re: “Universal Background Checks Clear Vermont Senate

I haven't heard anything from the legislature about what the funding source is going to be to enforce this law. It probably would only cost about $ 100 billion or so to post law enforcement In each household in the state that has guns. I am a hunter and own 5 guns and shotguns. I am more than willing to do anything that could stop even one of these tragedies. What I don't understand is the legislature passing any bill for anything that does not include a funding source for enforcement. In my opinion, this law would do nothing to prevent tragedies from happening. The people who do things are not known to be law abiding citizens.

Re: “Burlington School Board Issues Call for Stricter Gun Laws

Hi Thommy,
I am aware of the security currently used in schools. I haven't bought into anything. My comment was about beefing up security at the entrances to schools. Any myth related to the gun industry that you refer to has nothing to do with my comment. My point is that to protect students, sooner rather than later, we need to stop shooters from getting into the schools. Once these people are in the school, it doesn't matter if the security people have guns or not. The only result will be chaos and tragedy.

Re: “Burlington School Board Issues Call for Stricter Gun Laws

Gun law discussions are fine. But I don't see how legislation for gun controls, which will probably take years to put in place and figure out how to fund for proper enfocement of the laws, will stop somebody from shooting up the school my grandkids are in tomorrow. As any plumber can tell you, fix the leak first before you fix the cause of the leak. We need effective security in Vermont schools now, and then we can work on fixing the cause of the problems.
