Re: “Vermont's GOP Closes Ranks Behind Pro-Trump Chair Deb Billado

There is the Cult of Trump and there is the traditional New England Republican Party. They have nothing in common. Trump is a sociopath with no moral center, conscience or empathy. He is utterly self-referential. He leads a mob of witless sheep. This is not the party of Vermont Republicans who were thrifty, conscientious and modest. Think Stafford, Jeffords and Snelling. We could disagree, but they were solid human beings. Ms. Billado needs to choose either the Cult or the VtGOP. You can't have both. Actually, she already has.

Re: “Welch Calls for Barr's Resignation as Attorney General

There is evidently either (a) a bot farm pumping out support for knuckle-dragging right wing causes, or (b) a swarm of 60 low IQ readers who methodically and moronically jump on the looney bird wagon as it rolls by here in the Comments section. Quite the thinking crowd.

Re: “After the Mueller Report, How Will Welch Handle His Role?

John Walters' sophomoric little smirks and snarks are just annoying. Peter Welch is an excellent congressman who understands the realities of working in the House. He's steady and smart. He's on top committees and he's worked his way into leadership. He knows that the gasbags on the left and right are going to flame out, and he's exactly right on the impeachment happy talk being bullshit. In January 2021, he'll be standing on the podium near the newly elected Democratic president, waving goodbye to Spanky Trump, the worst mistake in the electoral history of our nation. It can't come soon enough.

Re: “Colorado Group Slams Scott as 'Feinstein & Bloomberg's Gun Control Lovechild'

Looks like the gun nut crowd is running out of tin foil for their hats. The paranoia surrounding this issue is evident in most every anti-Scott, anti-gun legislation screed from the people claiming Da Gub-mint is coming to swipe your rights. It is such bullshit, the product of gullible minds listening to NRA manipulation. Try reading the bill and understand what it is trying to balance. Critical thinking skills would really benefit this crowd, as well as a review of what the 2nd amendment actually says.

Re: “Burlington Free Press Vets to Exit

A very gracious exit by Mike and Mike, who became relics of the era when the BFP was actually a newspaper that represented local interests and people. How ironic that former Free Press reporter Molly Walsh wrote the story for Seven Days. The slow demise continues. Happily, many of the paper's ex-pats are doing well for Seven-Days and Vt.Digger. I guess time moves on, and so do my computer desktop bookmarks.

Re: “Liberal Activist Enters Mayoral Race

Repugnicans and Bushies were elated when Nader refused to get out of the race in 1999 even when the outcome was foretold. As I recall he received a great deal of support from Koch-types, who saw him as the perfect foil for Gore. I never understood how left-leaning Nader voters in key swing states like Ohio and Florida could be so stupid (most of them repented after the election), but the data were very clear that Bush won because of them. Guma is paving the same road if he persists.

Re: “Liberal Activist Enters Mayoral Race

Welcome to the narcissistic world of Ralph Nader, who dismissed vote splitting as unworthy of his attention. Mr. Guma apparently labors under the same delusion that he won't undermine the legitimate challenger, in this case Mr. Goodkind. Who are you kidding?
