Re: “At Senate Hearing, Recchia Denies Stifling Self-Criticism in Report

It seems as this entire process has been a sham, including lawmakers directing the Department of Public Service to perform a so-called self-assessment. It appears that NO ONE represents the people any longer, including those whom we elect. I guess the money that our lawmakers get from lobbyist and utilities is far more important than caring whether ratepayers and landowners are being screwed. Many people participated in the focus groups to provide input on how the current approach is broken. Many of these folks also provided well thought out recommendations on how things could be improved. It appears that DPS never had any intent to consider any input whatsoever. It was all for show. This is a very sad day for Vermonters.

Re: “Big Fish: Sorrell Nets Corren, but Did He Catch the Wrong Guy?

Amazing. I think the old saying "If you live in a glass house you shouldn't through stones" applies here. I am really getting tried of pompous Holier than thou attacks and corruption that are taking place in our political system today. Sorrel is the one that should be brought up on charges not Corren. And the fact that Sorrel spent I am sure spent many thousands of dollars not to mention diverting time away from what his office should be investigating all at the tax payers expense. His office is willing to look the other way when corporations businesses violate Vermont laws, but instead wastes tax payers money (did I mention there is a budget shortfall) on this. It is time for Sorrel to leave office. The sooner the better.

Re: “New 'Don' for Vermont Gas: Can Rendall Win the Pipeline Battle?

Natural Gas does NOT get us to 90% renewables by 2050. Fracked gas is not renewable. Plan and simple. The other part of the statute that Mr Rendall did not quote is more importantly that Vermont must reduce its Green House Gases by 75%. So even if you thought Fracked gas is renewable, it doesn't meet the 75% reduction target. The green house warming impact of gas is no different that heavy fuel oil for the first 40+ years due to the methane. Vermont's 75% reduction includes the upstream methane leakage. So you cannot just look at the burner tip. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) addressed this in their March 2014 report. Please stop lying to us, Mr. Rendall. It is time for the truth. Fracked gas is not cleaner. Nor can be considered a bridge fuel. The facts are the facts.
