Re: “WTF: Why Is Burlington Often Abbreviated as BTV?”

I was told (right or wrong I am not sure) long ago that since what is now know as Vermont was settled by French settlers and as is their custom Burlington, Vermont was abbreviated BTV. I am not sure if this is correct or not but to me it sounded good.
