The democrats in the Vermont legislature have exposed themselves as deceitful liars. They claimed H. 57 would only keep abortions legal as they are now being done in Vermont. Opponents have said all along it would guarantee a right to abortion all nine months of pregnancy with no rules or regulations The democrats voted down every amendment that would have kept abortions legal as they are done now. The democrats and progressives have made it clear they will accept nothing less than abortion all nine month of pregnancy with no regulations or restrictions.

It is good that the new version eliminates a provision declaring that fetuses have no rights and states that partial birth abortions will be banned. Unfortunatley, H57 still allows abortions all 9 months of pregnancy. H57 has no regulations or safeguards for women's health. The real purpose is to protect abortion providers as they cannot be prosecuted for doing any abortion. Why has the UVM Medical Center changed its abortion policy to allow 2nd & 3rd trimester elective abortions?

The real intent of Prop 5 is to allow abortions all nine months of pregnancy yet abortion is not even mentioned.
Clearly the Vermont Senators do not have the wisdom necessary to make an amendment to The Vermont Constitution. Vermonters will vote against Prop 5 because it is deceitful. Vermonters do not like being deceived. Most Vermonters do not approve of abortions all nine months of pregnancy. Thank you , John Walters, for clearly stating the purpose of Prop 5 in the heading of your article. Do we really want to enshrine abortion rights in The Vermont Constitution? It will cheapen a great document.
