I looked at the referenced article. Aeration was used to treat a pond in Japan that was about 5 acres and 4.5 ft deep. This volume is about 14,000 cubic meters. According to Wikipedia the volume of Lake Champlain is 26,000,000,000 cubic meters. Roughly 2 million! times larger volume. The aerators used in Japan were 3.2 kW. Assuming the aeration power is proportional to the water volume then you would need 6,400 gigawatts of power. About 9 Vermont Yankee sized power plants! Aeration of Lake Champlain is not the solution...
