Re: “Vandana Shiva Talks Poison Cartel, Farmers' Rights and Ecofeminism

Terence Bradshaw, farmers have been terribly misled by USDA and land-grant universities. It is NOT the fault of hard-working farmers that they use poison seed, poison to kill weeds, and so on. It is the profit-driven system that has created a system where farmers work so hard and actually harm the earth that they love! Farmers have been misled! You write of 'consumer risk' and 'safety to workers' as if the risk to human bodies was the only harm done by chemical farming. What about the risk to insects? to birds? to diversity? What about the soil, which as a living organism keeps us all alive? Chemical farming is death to our very soil! And it is unnecessary, because more food can be produced without chemicals than with them, if one does not rely on mono-cropping.
