To "Hey Folks",
Both reps you mentioned are Democrats, so is the majority of the House. So what's with the comment about the pro-prohibition Republicans ? There are not the problem. There is so much uneducated bigotry in these comments.
A good start. Now let's hope the proposed regulations stick.
In the meantime, if we're going to talk about what Vermonters can do, let's talk about the highest impact area for reducing green house gas emissions - transportation. It dwarfs the emissions from electricity generation, at least in VT. No one is talking about transportation, but rather; let's destroy the ridge lines first.
So much is written in the news these days about fascism. Evidenced by this and the violence at UC Berkeley a few weeks ago, it seems the Left is not immune. Neither the far Right nor far Left can be proud. Please grow up and open up. Politics is not a winner take all sporting event. We're all in it together.
40 hour work week? Farmers and other self-employed workers are laughing hysterically at that.
I've had a place in North Hero for 18 years, and this year was by far the worst ever. Excessive algae started in mid-June - a full 2 months early. Very discouraged to read this highly misleading article. Water quality varies widely depending on where you look and when. The lake is in big trouble and this article is no help at all. Time for VT farmers to change the type of agriculture they're involved in. Dairy has got to go.
"Closing hearings to the public shows a disrespect of the public role of the board." It was the protester's disrespect for the order of public hearings that forced this action. The end does not always justify the means. A Chinese proverb also comes to mind, "Those that debate the loudest have the weakest case."
Re: “Making a Stink: Man Protests Burlington's Wastewater Dumps”
Sadly, these spills are not the biggest problem. The biggest offenders are dairy farms and the tons of cow shit they send into the watershed.
