Re: “Barre's Best: Named Nicest Place in Vermont by Reader's Digest

I disagree, While Barre might not be violent during the day, and while there might be a lot of aid going toward addiction rehabilitation, the reason there's so much addiction rehabilitation is because of all of the addicts in Barre. I can tell you, as a Barre resident, that it is not safe to live in the residential areas of Barre. There are so many drugs going through that area, whether its marijuana, mushrooms, LSD, prescription drugs, cocaine, meth, heroin, pretty much anything an addict would want, it's all there. People cut marijuana with harder drugs and half the time the people who use them won't even know they're getting cut because they started off on cut marijuana in the first place. Thieves stealing from unlocked cars, people selling drugs to teenagers, parents abusing their kids, people selling their prescription medications, teenagers and addicts becoming homeless because of horrible living situations, its all there, I've seen it. Maybe it isn't "Scare Barre" if you're driving past and only see the good parts, but Barre is still Scary, and it can easily ruin the people who have to live there.
