Re: “Backpedaling: Burlington Residents Challenge Plans for More Bike Lanes

Biking commuters quadruple according to statistics from a city survey included in the 233-page master plan? I don't believe that for one minute. I would question any "study" from the corrupt Burlington leadership - My experience is that they are slanted to get a certain result or are "apple vs. orange" results that should not be compared - Only the Press and Local Motion members believe those studies. Everyone else is on to them.

Seven Days usually only tells one side of the story as I witnessed during the so-called N. Ave. Pilot which was never a pilot at all. "He's done his best to be transparent, " referring to Chapin Spencer who repeatedly lied throughout the North Ave. project. Giving the press unscientific pie charts - letting them run off and report results that he KNEW were untrue. Also ADMITTING that he "may have counted each biker four times" when challenged on his results on increased biking on the Ave. The only thing he's done his best at is deception and manipulation. You can go to those meetings all you want - if you don't agree with Local Motion you WILL NOT be heard and your opinion will not be considered. The council has given Chapin/ Local Motion free reign to run this city even though it is a complete conflict of interest for him to do so and would be ILLEGAL anywhere else but Burlington. WAKE UP Vermonters - Stop voting in people from out of state who only have outside interests for our city. We need to start voting in Vermonters or out-of-stater's who LIKE Vermont and don't want to change it to wherever they came from - strictly agenda driven representatives. The only people in Burlington who get representation are Local Motion members and that's it!

Re: “North Avenue Bike Lane Survey Leads to Controversy

The only way we are going to trust them is if we get to vote on this and Miro doesn't pull his robo calls and $11K expenditures like he did last time along with an ad in the N. Ave News and the STILL lost the vote in the NNE by 700. I spoke w/ people on our side who said they wouldn't fill out the survey because they said the City was going to do want.

GOOD FOR YOU DAVE! THAT is the consequence of the Miro and Chapin show intentionally defrauding/colluding and manipulating the NNE and not listening to the councilors who were voted in to represent us. Our data people show FAR DIFFERENT results from DPW and CCRPC and even THEY state that the data is not statistically significant but hell - just report it anyway right Chapin? That's you MO. Tweaking the lights all through the survey (A real NO NO during a survey unless you plan on standing out there and tweaking the lights for the next 40 years). Not to mention the EXTREME conflict of interest of having Chapin be any part of the process at all being the former exe. director of Local Motion. It would be illegal if we weren't in crooked Burlington!

I wonder if Ali Dieng has enough integrity to keep his word and vote no on the pilot like he said he would. Probably just another Local Motion progressive who votes for AGENDA's instead of his CONSTITUENTS - remember us? When asked Ali Dieng said "I will vote with the people." On Monday we will find out if that was a lie.

Re: “Rope-a-Dope: Scott Elusive on Future of Pot Bill

Ah yes - the same old tired ridiculous argument. Vermont has a huge drug problem and the hypocrites say "let's legalize pot!" Yup - just what we need - more drugs! Babies being born on them - parents abandoning their children, Why don't you look at the reports of the children being born with pot in their blood and the mother's say "well, I thought because it was legal it was okay." And what message has been sent regarding heroin? That questions doesn't even make sense. Post-legalization says to the kid's it's okay and not harmful - when it is! But who cares about them right? Oh yeah - NOBODY! After all - it's about YOU! Thankfully Phil Scott is brave enough to put up with all of the Progressive/Democrat bull. Good for him!

Re: “Rope-a-Dope: Scott Elusive on Future of Pot Bill

Good work Phil Scott! SOMEONE is looking out for Vermont's youth and not leaning toward their own selfishness. The best word I heard on this a while ago was from someone from the Boys and Girls Club. She stated that this is a bad message to send to our at risk youth. Our youth are the ones who WILL have a negative effect with this passage and I thank you for having the courage to protect them unlike the hypocrites you have to deal with in the legislature. Hang in their and don't listen to the insults from the elitists Progressives and Democrats that consistently show they only care ABOUT THEMSELVES or an AGENDA and do not have the capacity of forward thinking. I only read this article because it was sent to me. 7 Days is a one sided slanted view on ALL issues and reading it is a waste of time.

Stand STRONG Governor Scott! It takes a lot of courage to do the right thing and Lord knows the Dems and Progs don't have that kind of courage.

Re: “North Ave Ballot Question Puts City Officials in Sticky Situation

I sent the following via e-mail to City Attorney Eileen Blackwood on September 11th - I never got a response:

"Please review the question below. What I want to know from your office regarding the question is this: Will the Mayor or Council or City Clerk have any reason to say that the question itself is unacceptable for some reason and therefore will not be put onto the ballot?

Please respond as soon as possible as we have much to do by way of collecting the amount of signatures needed to force this on the ballot.

Petition to put the following question on the Burlington City March 2016 ballot:
Shall the City of Burlington keep four vehicular lanes on North Ave.? Yes__No__

Karen Rowell"

I wonder why it's so vague now. Also Mr. Tracy - if the transportation planning decisions are so complex, why does the DPW head Chapin Spencer not have an engineering degree? If he doesn't need one - why do we?

Re: “Burlington Considers How to Become a Bikable City at Walk/Bike Summit

Chapin Spencer should not even be the head of the Department of Public Works - He doesn't even have the qualifications for the job - Formerly the founder of Local Motion, he was just put in place as the Mayor's whipping boy so they could shove inefficient road designs where bikers previously had NO PROBLEMS getting from point A to point B. Vermonters are smart enough to ride a bike and stay out of the way of vehicular traffic and get where they need to be. We don't need to be dumbed down like the rest of the country. All those thinking they are helping the environment with this so-called movement are forgetting that idling traffic has major negative consequences for the environment. An avid biker myself it makes me angry that once again Vermont put's it's empty baby bottle out to the very in debt Federal Government for these types of programs. When it comes time to re-do the sidewalks, widen them slightly and pave them. Let's go back to Vermonters taking care of themselves. Remember Vermont?
