Re: “Vermont Task Force Favors Monitoring Social Media to Prevent School Shootings

The problem is way too many firearms with way too much fire power. The problem is NOT way too much social media.

Re: “Seven Days Tracks Down Ex-Priests Accused of Sex Abuse in Vermont

Sexual assault whether against an adult or child is never about the sex; but instead it is about exercising control and authority. This pervasive ecumenical child molestation, rape, and worse that has been aided and abetted on an organizational level by the catholic church is directly connected to the top down, patriarchal system of governance this "religious" organization refuses to change.

Some questions:

1) Why isn't there any attempt to hold the catholic church organization being held criminally liable?
2) Where is this thing called penance? (and no - breast beating doesn't count)
3) Why isn't the press discussing the above larger issues?

Re: “Catholic Diocese Names 39 Priests 'Credibly Accused' of Sex Abuse in Vermont

There is NO reason to believe the catholic church's ecumenical aiding and abetting child molestation, rape, and worse mysteriously began in the mid-1900s and magically ended around 2000. This organization is a criminal sexual predator and needs to be treated as such.

Imagine, if you will, this story had been about Planned Parenthood.

Re: “Burlington City Council Forms Police Oversight Committee; Other Accountability Efforts Fail

'We should not be in a position of publicly chastising public employees, he said.'

We should all understand that police share at least three characteristics: 1) They have an extra-ordinary authority to bring harm to anybody; 2) They are not responsible to the citizens who are being policed; and 3) They will circle wagons and protect themselves at our expense and pain.

We've fallen down on the job as a society. We should be holding police accountable to the populace they police instead of the government that wants to do the policing. And we need to be paying police better so we can attract those who are emotionally, mentally and professionally equipped to do the job.

It's not about bad guy/good guy. It's about appropriate oversight of personnel and activities that have immediate and daily effects on all of our lives.

Re: “Pop-Up Campers: As a City Policy Rewrite Stalls, the Homeless Pitch Tents

"Wright won't support a policy that makes it harder to clean up camps, and if the city pursues a designated campground, it shouldn't be near residential neighborhoods where children play, he said."

Says a lot about Wright. He wouldn't complain if the child rapist catholic church organization set up an encampment ("church") in his neighborhood, but poor people looking to fulfill part of the necessities of life .. well, they're not blessed - they're a danger to families and children.

It isn't just Wright, of course.

Re: “Vermont Senate Looks to Divert, Not Raise, Clean Water Funds

There's a hole in our future, and that hole is a massive degradation of our only source of food, water, air, and shelter (aka the physical environment) and the ability of our kids to have a healthy and sustainable future.

Re: “Three Arrested After Climate Protest Halts Vermont House Action

The disruption to the House was a mere blip on the whole of disruption to people's lives that will follow failure to begin meaningful and immediate action on global warming and climate change.
