Re: “Obituary: Kalvin DeForge, 1992-2022

I am deeply sorry for your loss. Our son left this world 3 years ago, also after years of struggling with addiction. As much as I understand it in my mind, my heart is still trying to heal. My son was a carpenter by trade but, also an amazing artist who would give whatever was needed to help someone. He was also a voracious reader and loved all music, from country to opera, depending on the mood. You folks, too, need to reach out. Please know that you're in my thoughts and prayers.

Re: “Vermont Restaurants Scramble to Keep Up With COVID-19

Kudos to Benji Adler for stepping up and helping to organize this team effort. So wonderful to see him offering to help his employees during this hardship. This will pass, eventually. In the interim, it's just good to know someone has your back, as he does. Can't say enough good things about the Skinny Pancake and all their staff! Wishing all the best!

Re: “Homeless Man Lights Fire in Burlington City Hall, Demands Hospital Treatment

I don't understand why, if he's asking for help, has been found incompetent in the past, and continues to "act out", he's not given the support he knows he needs? We, as a whole community, need to find answers that work. Jail time is not the only answer.

Re: “Stuck in Vermont: Monica Kaigle Remembers a Lifetime Spent in Burlington

I remember Monica and Jerry Kaigle from the Guards. My Dad, John Barr and Jerry worked together. Used to have so much fun at conferences and fancy balls. Monica has always been the life of the party. Such a great woman. And which story did she tell you? Because, there are many!!!

Re: “Feds Say Burlington Pot Shop Owner Possessed Guns, Sold to Minors

I don't think he should have been selling to underage kids. Having a loaded gun, is not a crime. Having $11,000 in cash is not a crime, especially for a business. His crime, I believe is having so much pot in one location and selling to minors. And I don't know about the amphetamine bottle. None of us do. Maybe it was his? I don't know. But, definitely sensationalism here.

Re: “Madelyn Linsenmeir, Whose Obit Went Viral, Died of Infection

So very glad that someone is following up on this sad, sad story. So afraid of so many more going down the same path without the knowledge and access to the care needed to prevent and cure this. Thank you for your work on this story.

Re: “Stuck in Vermont: Photographer Matthew Thorsen Gets the Last Word

Such a very well put together, open and honest view of what Matt (and so many others) is going through. Thank you so much for sharing. And, of course, hoping that you have a very enjoyable birthday, Matt. Wishing you as much joy as possible and plenty of peace, as well.
