Re: “One Year After Building Second Store, City Market Exceeds Goals

I am incredibly grateful for City Market, a remarkable asset to Burlington that contributes to a high quality of life in our city. It is the antithesis of South Burlingtons widely despised Healthy Living, a beacon of corporate greed and entitlement. Thanks to all City Market cheerful employees and its ethos of civic-minded community enhancement.

Re: “With a New Policy, Healthy Living Reads the Fine Print for You

Healthy Living does a huge amount of advertising with Seven Days (maybe even their largest advertiser?) and this article appears to strongly reflect that fact. Almost all of my friends shop at City Market, our neighbors universally avoid Healthy Living because competitive pricing, selection, and a happy vibe from employees is important to us.

I want Seven Days to maintain its profitability and thrive, they are good citizens of our community so I can forgive occasional lapses. I wish the store popularly known as Wealthy Living was as good a neighbor to their customers and employees. They are not.

Re: “Drain the Swamp? Scott Wades Into State Wetland Dispute

Let's see, if I'm forced to choose between ruining this guy's life or ruining our beautiful state's environment? Well, Vermont wins every single time. Builders and developers spend huge amounts of money to comply with permits. Sending the message if you build before we catch you then you get away with it? That sounds like a prescription for an onslaught of lawsuits against the state.

"Mr. Gorbachev...umm, Scott: TEAR DOWN THIS HOUSE."

Re: “Race to the Finish: Burlington Mayoral Candidates Make Final Pitches

It will be great when we have a female president, but not Hillary Clinton. And it'll be great when we have a female mayor, but not Carina Driscoll. Clinton is at least well qualified and hardworking despite being corrupt.

Driscoll refused to pay a contractor for completed work and when he sued her for payment, she tried to cheat and intimidate him with high-priced lawyers and excessive legal actions. Thankfully he didn't back down and was able to persevere until the judge threw the book at her and made her pay large fines and penalties for her sleazy behavior. It's too bad the civil court judge couldn't throw her in jail for the years she made that poor man suffer.

If voters let this woman anywhere near Burlington's finances, Driscoll will take full advantage. The same way she's taken advantage of others to line her own pockets. Carina Driscoll goes through life taking advantage of good, decent working people. She's an awful leech, an embarrassment to Bernie Sanders' family, his legacy, and Burlington.

Re: “'The Last Minute to Play': Oil Mogul Skip Vallee Takes the Fight to Cancer

Great to hear this toxic and noxious waste of human skin will be gone soon. A welcome retribution for all the thousands of people he caused to suffer during his lifetime of pillaging from less fortunate Vermonters. All to amass millions that cannot save his rotten body or his rotten soul.

The vast majority will cheer the day he dies. What a sad legacy. When will these short-sighted and shallow and inexplicably greedy millionaires learn they cant take it with them? And their idiot kids are likely to lose it all on drugs, divorce, bad business, or buying one too many money-draining yachts.

Re: “A Burlington City Employees Union Endorses Driscoll for Mayor

Wow, this is way too creepy and underhanded. I don't know who pulled these shenanigans but they benefited Driscoll, so it certainly appears that she's the one behind it. Heaven help Burlington if Carina Driscoll is ever elected to any position that requires integrity and responsible leadership.

I'm spending the next few weeks gathering my friends to come with me to the polls to vote for anyone else but Driscoll, who seems badly in need of another job after the one she had at Burlington College from her mother dried up. I'm sure the half million she got on top of her mother's take had nothing to do with the Burlington College bankruptcy.

Re: “Burlington Real Estate Mogul Tony Pomerleau Dies at 100

Every time a greedy old rich person dies, an angel gets their wings. It makes me feel ill the way politicians and others grovel to them. We need to tax these millionaires like we did before republicans hijacked our government by suppressing votes and gerrymandering. His kids should not be getting fat bank accounts, that money should be going to the public good.
