Re: “At Virtual Meeting, Burlington City Council Passes Emergency Coronavirus Measures

If you freeze rents small landlords will be forced into desperate measures. Is Burlington currently enjoying all the revenue from the March property tax installment landlords just paid?

Not sure why anyone would think it's okay to let people stop paying rent, it's not like Burlington landlords are using rent to sanitize their yachts and polish their jewels. Homes will go into foreclosure and tenants will get thrown out.

Re: “Winooski Cop Denies a Slew of Domestic Violence Charges

Great, setting this guy free may be a death sentence to this poor woman and possibly their child. I hope she's in a safe place, which is highly unlikely considering her abuser is a police officer. We know police stick together so what are the odds he doesn't have pals in the police department who will provide him with her location?

How many more thousands of women need to be killed by abusive partners before courts stop setting these men free after the woman finally, finally works up the courage to leave these men and report the abuse?? Especially a police officer! Honest to goodness, there are reams of true stories about police officers killing multiple wives over decades and getting away with it almost every single time.

Re: “As Vermont Considers Legalizing Pot Sales, Some Towns Act to Ban Stores

We need the good people of South Hero to vote out Mitzi or else Vermont will end up next to Alabama as the last states that outlaw a kinder, gentler drug that should've been made widely available decades ago.

Vermont cannot afford these backwards legislators crying the sky is falling as they suck up their nicotine and suck down their vodka martinis. Please vote or else only the privileged will continue to have weed while others are forced to beg, steal, or drive to neighboring states.

Re: “Greta Gerwig's 'Little Women' Is a Grand Achievement

How many remakes do we want, seriously? Keep making the same movies over and over. And over and over. Can you imagine if Rembrandt kept painting the same pictures already done by Michelangelo or Titian?

It's sad what's become of the movie industry. Please highlight original movies not based on sequels or remakes. Or else we'll be forever cursed with remakes and sequels like Batman 18, the Really Really Final Chapter.

I don't look forward to the 20th screen version of Little Women by Blue Ivy Carter, do you? Let's hope she does a spectacular original movie along the lines of "My Name is Dolemite" and not have some review lauding the cinematography and fx in "Black Panther 16".

Re: “Backstory: Shyest Sources

The secrecy from these nuns is malevolent and should not be condoned, especially given all the criminal activity perpetrated upon helpless children by priests and nuns that is still going on today.

These women ought to be ashamed of themselves for barring any official from oversight and reporting. They ought to be promoting transparency in their activities especially where children are involved.

Re: “Burlington Police Chief Admits He Used an Anonymous Twitter Account to Taunt a Critic

Sure, this behavior isn't wonderful but given the parameter of misconduct among public and private officials, I find it a little over the top to call for Mr. del Pozo's head. This may be embarrassing behavior, but not criminal or dangerous. Wouldn't we want to encourage our public officials to come forward and admit mistakes without getting tarred and feathered for any infraction?

It was a mistake; nobody was harmed. I'm much more concerned about the issue of excessive force and militarizing police precisely because every police officer is human and everyone makes mistakes. I'd rather a mistake be made behind a keyboard on FB than with a tank or rocket launcher IRL.

Be careful, don't let the door hit you in the rear on your way out.
