Don't know what these "advocates" are thinking, or they really have any concept of life for these inmates after they're released. What happened when a bunch of women were released, per the DA, one ended up back and forth to jail, eventually ending up in the hospital
We already have people waiting for release, past their minimums, because they have no support and nowhere to go.
Now they want to release the most vulnerable people, to...where....homeless shelters that already are concerned about providing for the people they already have? Where will they go, what will they eat, etc.
RE:3/18 update, as stated in the update,
In addition, only ADA service animals are allowed; therapy and support animals are not.
Patients come in with their service animals. ADA recognizes only dogs and miniature horses. VT law does not add any species to this list.
Volunteers bring in therapy dogs, FOR patients and maybe even staff. So, temporarily no therapy animals.
Under VT law, owners of support animals have no rights outside of their own homes or airplanes, to take these animals anywhere. Not only should there not be support animals in the hospital now, there should NEVER be support animals in the hospital. Or ANY hospital
Additionally, what, exactly, is an "ADA service animal". The hospital needs to be reminded there is no paperwork,, ID, certification, etc, that is valid to determine if an animal is a "valid" trained service animal, nor can the hospital ask for or require any
They may ask-Is this animal required because of a disability, Usually phrased as. Is this a service dog
What tasks or work has the dog been trained to do. They may not ask for ID, what your disability is, who trained the dog, etc. I suggest if you must go to the hospital with your SD, call first, to ensure this policy is not an issue. This is not a time to get into a pissing match, as if you're at the hospital during this whole mess, it's not likely for something routine
I consider myself a rational person, but to a large degree, I do blame some out of staters for spreading this virus. We are human beings up here, same as them, not some barren place to escape to. It's not like we're talking about emergency staffers volunteering to help out, etc. This is mostly folks w/ second homes, as near as any info has been released. "oh, there's a worldwide pandemic, let's go skiing"
Meyer’s opinion cited inadequate screening, prevention techniques and treatment capacity. It also referenced an email from DOC's director of nursing stating that the department didn't have ventilators available for very sick inmates.
Why on earth would any VT DOC facility need VENTILATORS? There's no infirmary or staff in DOC that is equipped to care for someone on a vent. Any inmate that needs a vent needs to be in the hospital, just like anyone else. Other states have prison hospitals, or vice versa, but VT is not one of them.
And where are all these released people to go? Do these advocates have housing lined up for each and every one of them, are will they just be released to the streets, to fend for themselves? No matter what way you view this situation, I can't see how this is a good idea. There's also already a scarcity of needed supplies on the shelves, as seen in many community stores, not even toilet paper. At least DOC facilities have heat, lights, medical care, and food. And TP. If we already have so many people ELIGIBLE for release but NOT, for lack of housing, where does Valerio and all the others propose these folks to live?
This is ludicrous, and dangerous for all concerned
ORACLE-the fine dining focus was found in the prices for what you were eating, and the attitudes of some of the staff
Lea Terhune--- more than likely, he'll at least get more than he's getting now, which is NONE. Tho with this level of offense, he's still likely to get ruled incompetent or similar, if I had to guess
Re: “As Outbreak Spreads, Holcombe Questions Zuckerman's Vaccination Stance”
The patients, children, Rep. Zuckerman refers to, who have had allergic reactions to vaccines in the past, are pretty much always exempt from these laws, as long as an actual attending doctor verifies the allergy happened. This would be a medical exemption, and unrelated to any philosophical exemption. He's throwing out apples and elephants. I've supported him in the past, but likely will not now
