Re: “Stuck in Vermont: Monica Kaigle Remembers a Lifetime Spent in Burlington

I remember the Kaigle's from childhood! Booth Street was the Fitzgerald's, the Gadue's, the Dorey's, the Kaigle's and the Rowell's. I remember Allison, Kelly and Paul. How awesome that Mrs. Kaigle still lives there! I lived right around the corner, across from Pomeroy Park, where we used to ice skate until our feet turned blue!! So nice to see this blast from the past. Best to you, Mrs. Kaigle!

Re: “U.S. Attorney Christina Nolan Testifies About Fentanyl to U.S. Senate Committee

Two of my sons, Dennis and Sean Thibault, died from an overdose of PURE FENTANYL on June 18 of 2015. The person that sold that Fentanyl, Robert "Bobby" Robidoux, has finally been brought before our Vermont court to answer for his part in their deaths. He was arraigned on March 30th, 2018 on 3 counts.
My sons died . The other victims named in this charge nearly died. The same Fentanyl that Robert "Bobby" Robidoux distributed on June 17th 2015, that killed my sons nearly killed others.........the day BEFORE and THE DAY AFTER my sons died. I want to help Christina send a message. If you peddle this poison, you may end up like Bobby. He will be tied up in the State case for a very long time. His Federal sentence is now in jeopardy since the new information that was discovered in the State's case may negate any agreement they made with him to forgive him of any "basis that death or serious bodily injury resulted from the defendant's distribution of heroin".
I want to thank the BPD and the State's Attorney for continuing to pursue this case. I also want to send a message to anyone who has lost someone to this scourge. I am so sorry for my ignorance, I never would have believed that my own loving sons could be opiate addicted. I have learned so much since their deaths about this crisis, and I hope that this post educates at least one can happen to you or someone you hold dear. Please, read up on this and educate yourselves. You may save a loved one's life. I can only hope for that.

Re: “Death by Drugs: Opiates Claimed a Record Number of Vermonters in 2016

So brave is this article. In 2015, I lost two of my sons, Dennis and Sean Thibault, to an addiction that we were not even aware of. They were highly successful men in their 30's that were "functioning addicts". Only in the wake of their death's have I become educated about this epidemic. I was ignorant, plain and simple. I plead with anyone reading this article, and the posters of all of the comments therein: Please, talk to your middle school and high school children about what they see and hear in school. Talk to your neighbors about what may be going on next door. Enlist the help of the law and the medical profession. Consult with your employers about an EAP, which is a an anonymous service for counseling through many employers. I will grieve forever without Dennis and Sean and I can only do what I am only now capable of.......try to help someone save a life. There is no immunity to this scourge. Thank you to Mark for his article. My heart and thoughts go out to all of you that contributed to this story. I truly know how hard that was. Penny Thibault
