The charge for the last medical helicopter ride that I'm aware of was $25,000. This was at a car accident where the injured party did not have life threatening injuries (although it is possible that the extent of injuries was unknown when the helicopter was called in). It is very expensive to maintain and staff a helicopter. If there is limited use, the cost of each use is even higher or the incentive to use it for less necessary transfers will increase.
An expense like this could bankrupt many Vermonters when a ground transfer may have been sufficient. It would certainly increase the cost of medical care in the state. If this isn't regulated, it should be. Full costs and benefits should be weighed with some realization that some things may be beneficial but just cost too much. It is perhaps telling that we have not been given any proposed budget or business plan for this service.

He should be added to a new edition of Kennedy's "Profiles in Courage".

Thanks "fromaway" for posting the list of names. I am familiar with some of them, looked up the rest, and they represent a far more balanced approach than what John Walters described.

Simple fact of the matter is that Denis Finley didn't have the courage or integrity to recite the Twitter comment that got him fired. Instead, he dishonestly presented his firing as due to "raising a question".
Maybe he would have been fired if had simply "raised a question" about whether this was an appropriate policy, but that has nothing to do with this situation.
Instead, due to his actions, his extreme bias was clearly evident for the world to see.
And, I'm tired of hearing about how Vermont is simply this homogeneous left-wing state. Anyone forgetting about how we elected a Republican governor and by a good margin?
