Politically Involved Young Vermonter
What could possibly motivate a Republican who is shitty on pretty much every issue to support a progressive cause like criminal-justice reform? Only being a white-collar criminal himself who defrauded investors. Not to say that this cause is bad, it is something that folks should support wholeheartedly - just don't be dazzled by Willhoit and think he's some sort of compassionate conservative.
Janssen Wilhoit and Adam Greshin are really competing with each other to see who can be most outwardly self-serving in their legislative priorities.
Every legislator of importance on this issue seems to have their own ideas of 'how' we should legalize marijuana, but none of them have the political courage to actually do it.
My primary mode of transportation is my bike - I don't have a car. Yet I pay taxes for the road all the same (and I'm not shitting out the carbon pollution that is slowly destroying our planet in excessive amounts). Bikers have just as much of a right to the road as any other vehicle.
To all the folks who are opposed to bike lanes: sorry that protecting our safety on bikes makes you sit in traffic a little longer - pass the time by playing yourself a tune on the world's smallest violin.
Everyone knows the 1st amendment was meant to protect the right of an unhinged 43 year old man to berate a high school student.
Warheit - wow. I'm sure George Washington would be quite shocked to learn he was racist as he gazed upon his fields full of slaves.
I imagine that every member of the Legislature has a small retirement fund set aside for themselves, because every sane person recognizes the value in investing for one's own future. When we invest money for our own retirement, we are basically taxing our current income in order to reap the benefits years in the future. It is worth investing in our future - who knows what will crop up? It is worth preparing for the future.
Taxes are an investment in the future and we should not be afraid of them. 'No new taxes and fees' may be a catchy campaign slogan, but nobody in their right mind would want to use that philosophy when it comes to putting away money towards the future of Vermont's citizens and environment.
What does this budget do towards addressing the Lake Champlain clean up besides kicking the can down the road?
I hope the residents of Chit 6-3 do 'some more vetting' before we vote in 2018. Just to be sure we don't push our Legislators out there if they need more time to......oh, i don't know - actually figure out what policies their constituents report.
Krowinski's campaign slogan in 2018 should be: Just Wait, Don't Elect Me Until 2020 - I Need More Vetting
