Re: “Park, Housing Planned for Former Burlington College Property

So grateful the plan includes public open space and access to the lake! That path from North Ave to Texaco Beach is a great community resource.

Re: “Seize Them! Testing a New Weapon in Rutland's Drug War

Even if successful, efforts like these will still be like a game of Whac-A-Mole. After successfully removing one drug dealing location, another will pop up elsewhere in the community. As long as there is money to be made in the drug market, people will participate. As long as there are addicts struggling to feed their addictions, people will buy drugs. For a new way of looking at the War on Drugs, check out Johann Hari's book "Chasing the Scream." It is a comprehensive analysis of the origins and effects of our current policies, and it looks at innovative solutions we could be implementing to address the real issues at stake: namely, the health of individuals and communities.
