The only thing that rivals Andrew Bird’s musical ability is his whistling. At once whimsical and sophisticated, the skill enhances poetic lyrics in a genre-bending repertoire that’s earned the Chicago-based performer a fervent following of international fans. After picking up the violin at age 4, Bird spent his formative years learning classical music by ear. Explorations in jazz, country, blues and folk followed, and led him to create textured indie-pop that features multiple instruments. Never one to remain stylistically idle, the virtuoso switches gears for a stripped-down show of old-time acoustic tunes, backed by his band Hands of Glory.
