Just a little curious what message this sends to all the marketing professionals here in BTVLAND, many who are members of the Chamber...What message does this sends to them?
'Sorry, we went out of state to find world class brand expertise.
Ron was/is an amazing cat herder and cheerleader for Church St. The question now is do the businesses, and in particular the Board of the Church st. Marketplace who are responsible for 100% of the REVENUE ( and associated taxes) have a hand in the decision making of who Ron's replacement will be?
Taxes are just like maple syrup in the trees.
Tap the big, fat one that everyone loves (Tourism) the sap gushes, everyone gets what they want, no one gets hurt. Tap the tiny sapling, that's clearly on life-support ( High tech in Vermont) and you get a trickle of sweet...until you kill the tree.
The naive ones under the dome that keep shouting but 19 other states do it!" do not have the vision or simply depth of understanding to get that they are comparing a mature thriving infrastructure in those 19 states - California - come on with a few companies here.
The two largest ( Dealer/Myweb) both have both been bought and sold twice and are on a quiet shrinkage trajectory (just as IDX and IBM did before them). The handful of others that want to live and work and contribute here because they are good enough to sell their wares beyond the farmers market you just put a knife in their little heart as you hung a sign out to America yes we have very high taxes here and we just made them worse for you.
Farmhouse properties should never be in the same headline as ' dining on a dime'. Undermines your credibility.
Is is just me or does all the recent construction last few years - from the new hotels, to Pine St, to off Pine. to St. Paul st, etc all look like it was drawn from the same generic cookie cutter 'building in a box' set? Can't the city try to nudge raise the bar a little architecturally?
Im not asking for 'design police' but....generic begets generic.
So well done Eva, thank you.

And...whatever happened to Don Sinek? Doesn't it seem a bit strange ...he just quietly drifted away (and recently sold his Vermont home)
As long as this comes in where it was supposed to AT A MAX. OF 8 STORIES - i think it's great to get a do over from the original skyscraper plan forced on Vermonters.
