A Vermont Gem - Local food, great experience
The Freighthouse is much more than just dining; it's an experience. Much of the food is local and organic. It's a restaurant that gives back to the community on many levels - by supporting local farms and local artisans. The desserts are fabulous, as are the Starbucks beverages. The gift shop is filled with local talent, and quality, unique gifts. What's more, you get a feel for the Lyndon area's rich history and railroading past as you walk through the building and take in the countless photos of Lyndon as it was in the early 1900's. The business operates with an environmental conscience too - the food and paper waste is composted, and compostable corn cups are used for the cold coffee beverages and ice cream dishes. Carmen's ice cream is well worth a visit too with over 60 flavors to choose from! The homemade brownie sundaes are delicious! Highly recommended!

Re: “The Freighthouse”
Fresh, Local, Organic, Meaningful
The Freighthouse brings meaning to the dining experience with certified organic beef and organic vegetables; all of the food and paper scraps are composted, and many of the menu choices are made from fresh local ingredients. As an employee, I'd describe The Freighthouse as an energetic, environmentally-friendly, destination stop where locals and travelers come together for great food and a unique dining experience. Starbucks coffee and espresso beverages are the perfect complement to the Freighthouse's famous fare- prepared with local eggs and produce, homemade bread, and local organic meats. The homemade desserts are extensive and delicious- well worth a visit on their own. Carmen's ice cream offers over 60 flavors of delicious ice cream. You'll find many unique gifts, natural and organic foods, and local history in the gift shop and gallery, as well as over 50 fragrances of YANKEE (R) Candles and accessories.
