Re: “Burlington City Council Votes to Re-Redesign City Hall Park

BradD. Miro has nothing to do with the 1,000 trees being planted in Burlington. Branch Out Burlington and UVM are responsible for those trees. I volunteered with them as have many others - cutting growth off the trees in the green space, planting, watering and weeding newly planted ones until they are big enough to plant in the green space, asking neighbors if BOB planted trees in the green space in front of their houses would they keep them watered. Selling smaller trees to raise money for the trees that are planted in the green spaces. Applying for grant monies. Yes, arborist from DPW are involved but, BOB and volunteers are responsible.

I'm disappointed BOB has not spoken out but, then they are dependent on DPW.

Re: “Burlington City Council Votes to Re-Redesign City Hall Park

Know your...
"It's TOTALLY about anti-development. It's about anti-everything. No mall redevelopment. No new buildings. No sale of BT. No completion of the southern connector. No new park. No new jets. No mural."

I have never heard anyone say NO mall redevelopment. Instead, I have heard concerned citizens, unlike the mayor, speak to appropriate growth. Never heard anyone say No new buildings. On BT, concerned citizens got administration to deliberate to get the very best deal they could. What was it 30 million more than the city was willing to accept. Damn good thing concerned citizens cared. Can't speak to the southern connector, know nothing about it. They absolutely never said they didn't want a new park - they said they want to save the trees and to have them better taken care of. No new jets - frankly, how could anyone argue for them - you can't simultaneously work for peace and prepare for war. Don't you think we have killed enough babies, mothers, fathers, children. We are a war mongering country. I also am not hearing no mural. I am hearing, let's take another look at it; it is not respectful of native americans and others.

Concerned citizens are not the problem. People who just complain and do nothing to contribute are.

Re: “Burlington City Council Votes to Re-Redesign City Hall Park

So Wheaton, what have you done to create the park you want? Actions speak louder than words. Your actions - complaining - do nothing to make for a better park.

I am really tired of the idiots who get on this site and just complain and denigrate others. Please shut up. And, get on with a life.

Re: “First Night Burlington Shuts Down After 35 New Year's Eve Festivals

Gee, surprising news. It was GREAT while it lasted. I attended and volunteered for many years. But, it got to the point where I just did not want to brave the frigid cold anymore. Getting old I guess.

Seems it needed younger generations to succeed and they apparently just weren't interested.

A great BIG thanks to all who supported it for so many years, and especially to the board for so many years of very hard work.

Re: “Burlington City Council Votes to Re-Redesign City Hall Park

Kienan Christenson: It's ignorant and ridiculous to state that, "We're seeing a startling trend in this city of people who want to stop development." Really?! Startling. Strange statement coming from such a young person as yourself. It sounds like a parroted comment from one's parents.

There is no anti-development trend. Just people who have lived here for decades and who love this city and have invested much to it over decades, including financial support. Thank god they are concerned and willing to step-up to protect this city. It is not about anti-development.

Re: “Ahead of Would-Be Shooter's Release, Scott Urges Passage of 'Domestic Terrorism' Law

I wonder how many gun lovers screaming for their constitutional rights are now screaming about denying Jack Sawyer's his?
