Re: “O'Keefe Exercises His Right to Free Speech Without Disruption in Middlebury

You can fool some of the people all the time.

Re: “Ambitious Plates at the Great Northern

My only complaint regarding the menu items at Great Northern is their tendency to "gild the lily." I've had the octopus and the fish entree (hake). Both came with complex sauces (somewhat sweet) that masked the flavor of the main ingredient. This is not necessary when that ingredient is of high quality. My suggestion is to use "simplice" as a guiding principle. Less IS sometimes more.

What fee did Murray receive for spewing his cockamamie nonsense?

Re: “Vermonters Swarm Into Montpelier for Women’s March

The marches were a great way to show our resistance to tRump and his claque. We know this administration wants to traffic in "alternative facts (lies)," however we must stay vigilant and active so that we don't lose our democracy to fascism.

Re: “Norwich University Band to Perform at Trump’s Inauguration

Slowly, but surely we creep along the road toward fascism.

Re: “Taste Test: Soup's On at Gaku Ramen

I went early on to Gaku. I didn't expect Ippudo. I was excited to read that the kitchen had been advised by Ramen "masters" from Japan. The shishito peppers were on the menu that day and were very good (they are available at the Saturday Farmer's Market). The ramen presentation was quite nice. My bowl had the requisite under cooked egg, a slab of pork, and tons of noodles - all very good quality and cooked appropriately. The broth could be excellent if the chefs would refrain from using canned, off tasting bamboo shoots. They ruin the dish in my estimation. I mentioned this to the waitress, but it appears from this review that my suggestion fell on deaf ears. I'll give Gaku another chance perhaps after the sensei return to critique the kitchen.
