Give NowShelburne Museum — How did a seasonal museum best known for its collection of folky artifacts such as quilts and carriages take a win for “Best Art Gallery”? Credit goes to the museum’s new Pizzagalli Center for Art and Education, which houses two capacious, state-of-the-art galleries, as well as educational and event spaces. The striking contemporary building, constructed with indigenous wood and stone, is the museum’s first and only year-round facility. Its inaugural exhibits were large-scale sculptures made of 12-inch nails by Maine artist John Bisbee and a stunning selection of new and old works crafted of glass. For the summer 2014 season, the Pizzagalli offers a reinstallation of the museum’s impressionist paintings, aptly titled “In a New Light.”
