Founder Ted Adler started the company in 1999; its first office space was his dorm room at Middlebury College. Today USM specializes in creating websites for high-end real estate agents. It also builds e-commerce sites and provides Internet marketing services to businesses, schools and nonprofits. Last November, the Lake Champlain Regional Chamber of Commerce recognized Adler and his innovative crew with its 2008 “Entrepreneurial Spirit Award.”
