With such finicky weather, the surplus of practical footwear such as Crocs, clogs and Birkenstocks in Vermont is no surprise. But the proprietors of Tootsies know it’s what’s inside that counts. Underneath the sensible shoes and boots, ladies in the know hide indulged little digits that have been pampered with pedicures that smooth, massage, polish, scrub and wax them into shape. The shoe store, co-owned by Beth Estey and Mary Lou Robinson since 2006, even offers pedicure parties for girls’ night out, at which clients can sip juice or BYO alcoholic libations while luxuriating in a pineapple pedi. Along with nail services, Tootsies offers up trendy accessories ranging from purses to jewelry to “fantastic footwear that will not break your budget.”
