Battery Street Jeans — In an age of curated vintage shops and apps for secondhand selling, it’s easy to forget the purest joy of thrift shopping: sifting through piles of junk, searching for treasure. At Battery Street Jeans — a Burlington staple since 1991, though no longer on Battery Street — the treasure outnumbers the junk, but the spirit of the hunt lives on. Among the traditional stock of mom jeans, worn-in flannels and denim jackets, Battery Street Jeans has one-of-a-kind wearables from local artists, as well as crystals, art prints, records and a huge stockpile of used movies. Drop off your used duds for store credit, check out the art gallery in the basement, and attend one of the shop’s art openings or DJ nights. Our reporter walked in for research and walked out the new owner of a bolo tie adorned with a miniature Etch A Sketch. It’s just that kind of place.
