Re: “Vermont School Districts Must Save $13 Million Under Legislature’s Compromise

I take great offense to Darren Allen's comments that he felt it was a backroom deal and "a D.C.-style government shutdown threat". In reality what happened here, was a political compromise, not the typical paralysis that occurs in D.C. The Vermont NEA just feels threatened because so many of it members have "Platinum" health care plans that, we the tax paying public, just cannot afford any more. We need to change that. Most Vermonters could only dream of having health care plans as lavish as many teachers in the state enjoy!

Re: “A Never-Ending Home Construction Project Vexes a Queen City Hood

Whew, sounds like a bunch of snobs in this neighborhood. They should just leave this poor guy alone.. If the house were completed, they could have folks move in who are terrible neighbors and make their lives much more worse than having it vacant. The house does not appear to be a health hazard and it is posted so kids should not be playing there. ust live and let live,.... that's the Vermont way!

Re: “Shumlin Talks, Reluctantly, About Governing Without a 'Fear Gene'

I am pretty sure that the Governor actually grew up in Westminster

Re: “Vermont Supreme Court Approves Costco Gas Pumps, Rejects Vallee Appeal

Skip Vallee is a bad man plain and simple. He rips off the public so he can live on the high hog. I am so glad that Costco will sell gas. They are a company that treats its employees quite well... far better than Vallee has treated us. Maybe now his nasty-spirited, greed-filled monopoly will crumble and he may have to understand what life is like for the rest of us working class folks.

I like Keith Dewey's comment above.. Let's just boycott all of Vallee's Maplefields, and not just ding his wallet, but put him out of business. Anyone who supported George Bush, who is responsible for over 4,000 patriotic American deaths in Iraq, should be ashamed of themselves.

Re: “Burlington Vigil for Orlando Draws a Massive Crowd — Including Sanders

While the Orlando shootings were a horrific and terrible event that tragically targeted the gay community, which has already suffered way too much persecution, I sometimes wish that we narcissistic Americans would also be as concerned with human rights violations and outright massacres of a far worse magnitude and nature.
A recent example was what happened to the Yazidis. I dare say many Americans have no idea who they even are. They are a Kurdish ethnic group that suffered horrible losses (100 times the number of deaths than Orlando) in many cases far worse than gunshots and the women and girls were brutally raped and sold as sex slaves. We need to also remember those in other parts of the world whose suffering can often far exceed ours.
Sincerely, Bill G.
