Re: “Black Sheep Bistro

Hard to please mother-in-law
Thank goodness our favorite restaurant is also the closest. Took my 83 year-old m-in-l last night and she raved with us. Love the expanded menu choices. Flavors are always distinct, strong and well described on the menu. The uni-pricing policy allows me to really order what I feel like and not be swayed by price. We don't eat out often but when we do it is always south to Vergennes. Food: 5 Ambiance: 4 Service: 5

Re: “Bistro de Margot

My first and my wife's second dining experience at BM. It was a busy Tuesday before Christmas and we were told they were short staffed so my critique of slow service may be amiss but we waited over an hour for our first course. Bread arrived after 45 minutes and was described with pomp as O'Bread from Shelburne which happens to be our regular " go to the farm" bread. It was not fresh or warm. The wine we ordered was excellent and the salmon and steak frites were also excellent. The mussels in white wine were a disappointment but I probably ordered incorrectly as the cream version looked better on another diners plate. Overall a pleasant experience, our server/service was slow but she was very nice. She lacked in wine knowledge.
