This is the most dysfunctional Legislature we've seen in years. They refuse to take up any idea the Governor has to offer.
$8,000 a month is a rediculous amount of money to waiste a month, I completely understand Rep. Ancel's frustration. Now if she and the other Democratic leaders could get as easily frustrated with the VT NEA, maybe we could save the state and its taxpayers $26 million next year. Keep up the the good work Gov Scott, these guys will have to support some of your ideas eventually, the public shamming will do them in. We hope!
@REPPINVT, so to your point of not doing this in a hasty and ill conceived way, exactly how much time should this take? They've been discussing it for 10 years!
Very sad how this same Democratic controlled Legislature gave Peter Shumlin carte blanche on all things Vermont Health Connect and EB-5 and now they won't let Governor Scott take the simple step of merging two small departments to achieve savings and efficiencies. #dcstylepoliticssuck
This is just bizarre. In a year when it looks like we will finally bend the curve on out of control spending and taxation, along comes this foursome with 4 different versions of a tax that clearly cost Sue Minter the election. They just can't help themselves! #outoftouch
The VT Department of Liquor has arguably been the most mismanaged department in State Government for years, not an easy accomplishment considering the competition. Think about the pricing model they have compared to New Hampshire, think of the 1970's technology that is such a pain when you want to purchase over the counter, think about the overtime gouging over the last few years by the Enforcement Chief that was approved by the then Commissioner. The licensing process is not very customer friendly and they had a failed IT project that was jettisoned after several millions invested. Why would anyone not want to shake this up as quickly as possible. Once again Governor Scott identifies opportunities for immediate improvement and savings and the legislature punts! To the Legislature I plead, stop playing politics and do your job!
So far I have been very impressed with Governor Scott's very deliberate and measured approach in performing his job as Governor. I certainly don't know all his appointees but have been pleased with those I do know. Take your time with the remaining few and get them right!
