Re: “Principled Stand? Why Vermont's Former Ed Chief Split With Scott

Cost containment was not her passion according to Huling, well no kidding. I hope the door didnt hit her on the way out! Lets find someone that can bring efficiency and financial accountability to our education system. Governor Scott, if there was a tiff between the two of you about this, I stand with you!

Re: “Scott Administration Proposes Draining Clean Energy Fund

@Tyler Dobbs, now that you have thrown this half baked story out there at the request of VPIRG, I hope you have the decency to follow up with all the facts once you have gathered them. You are getting lazy!

Re: “Union Slams Scott Administration Over Prescription Drug Changes

I suggest that Seven Days do a follow up article on this change 12 months after it goes into effect. We will then all be ale to see this will be a non issue for the union members and more a scare tactic used by Steve Howard and other union leaders to justify thier exorbitant salaries and existence. Thank you Govornor Scott for your fair and practical proposal.

Re: “Analysis: How Gun Votes Divided the Vermont House

Senator Ashe has always advocated for bills to be subject to the full committee process rather then just being voted on by the full Senate. We will find out today if that is just BS or if he does truly believe that. #letthecommitteedoitswork

Re: “Analysis: How Gun Votes Divided the Vermont House

I feel so sorry for the kids that are being led to believe S.55 will make them or their schools safer. This bill is nothing more then a feel good bill and an out right attack on our constitutional rights. Bow tie wearing men from California are a much greater danger to VT/VTers then guns will ever be.

Re: “Vermont House Backs Sweeping Gun Legislation

Very sad story about about Representative Stuarts family friend, sorry that anyone needs to go through that. I wonder however, which of the components of todays bill would have prevented that tragedy.
I am also dismayed that two 18 year olds can get married, live on there own, have a child and not be able to purchase a firearm for their own protection. VT Senate and Governor Scott, you still have a chance to slow down this runaway train.

Re: “Walters: Vermont House Budget Writers Apportion $28 Million Windfall

How sad that $10 million of new found money quickly falls victim to that same old sucking sound we call our Education system, more specifically in this case, the Teachers Pension system. Keep in mind this years budget already had $100 million directed toward the teachers pension system and next years budget will have well over $100 million more. Over the next 5 years we will commit over $650 million to the teachers pension system. Add the $300 million over the same time period for the state employees retirement system and we are almost at a cool $1billion. What is wrong with this picture, does anyone else think we need to change this?
