Re: “Inside the Conservative Takeover of Vermont's Coolidge Foundation

People like the Mercers are evil as in they wish to mold government in THEIR image against the interests of voters.

It's time to overturn Citizens United and restore this country as one run by the will of the voters, not hoity-toity conservatives with bottomless pockets.

Re: “Vermont Senate Votes 21-9 for Marijuana Legalization

If the House won't go along with it, then we will vote more pro-pot candidates to take their seats. It's as simple as that. You stand in the way of progress, you will get pushed out of the way eventually.

This state is held hostage by tax-and-spend Democrats and conserve-and-complain Republicans. We need both parties to be on the same page for this to work. Continuing to use the heroin epidemic and supposed lack of impairment tests as barriers to legalization will only galvanize those who wish to see it passed.

So if Phil Scott and the crybabies that oppose legalization are listening, GET OUT OF THE WAY or lose your seats!

Re: “Verexit? Secession Movement Gains Steam After Trump Election

Give me a break. 21% is not a majority of Vermonters. I have read about the fringe First Vermont Republic movement. It's WAS led by people who moved here with the desire of seceding from the federal government (Thomas Naylor). I honestly do not think that supporters understand how important federal dollars are to this small state. We are not Texas or California. We don't have a large economy or a large population to support secession. It's a pipe dream and nothing more.

I do want to add that Dr.Rob Williams is an excellent lecturer (I took a course he taught, "Cars, Culture and the Media"). I just don't buy into the secession movement.

Re: “Final Days at Statehouse Bring New Plans, New Fights — and a Walkout

Phil Scott only won due to the short-sighted desire of people hiding behind the balance excuse. In reality, they prefer more GOP representatives with their heads in the sand, such as Dustin Degree.

Let's keep it simple: No new taxes for working Vermonters (increase taxes on the wealthy), legalized marijuana and more infrastructure spending. No more pet bills like that to raise the smoking age (?) or impose a hotel occupancy tax (wtf?).

Re: “Milton's Metamorphosis: A Plan in Place for a Real Downtown

Milton has come a long way. I remember when it was junkyards and trailers. Where Sears is, used to be a big junkyard.

I would love to live in Milton but I do agree that the lack of a downtown hurts it slightly. This can be said for many communities like Milton. South Burlington has been trying for decades to establish a downtown core and that's still in the planning stages.

Re: “L.J. Palardy, Longtime DJ and 'Jazz Curmudgeon,' Dies at 73

LJ was my mentor and without his guidance and sense of humor, I probably wouldn't be able to achieve my own dream of hosting a radio show. LJ loved to make fun of the music I played and would often pretend to bang his head on the door of the studio whenever I had something heavy playing. I'll miss the curmudgeon! - Brad Barratt Dissection Theatre
