I don't find it suspicious at all that she went back to work for him. It makes me believe it happened even more. People who have a history of being abused from a young age very often have this pattern, of seeking out the same situation again. Whether with the same person or a new one. It's the same thing that keeps women who have been battered for 20 years married to the same man, until one night he gets drunk and kills her.
Some people theorize that abuse works its way into a person's psyche, and they start to subconsciously believe that they are damaged goods, did something to deserve the abuse, and seek out the same situation again. Possibly to try to find closure.
This is how it really happens, people. We need to do better as a people of empowering women, so they know they have intrinsic value, and do not derive their value from men.

Actually, I take back my previous statement about how we need to empower women. I was completely missing the point. We need to educate our men that women are not their property. And that their self worth does not come from dominating others. It was unfair of me to imply that a rape victim is at fault for "not being empowered enough". Obviously, I still have a lot to learn.
