The US is lost, and firmly under the control of corporations. This is our #1 issue, and it was Bernie's #1 platform item back in 2016. We won't see anyone tackle it head-on now that the DNC has lodged its head firmly up its own arse. Oh well. Party on, Corporate America...
While I loathe tourists and shopping, I also sympathize with young people (like myself) who want to build a life in VT. Burlington is a beacon of opportunity for folks who want to enjoy the best of our little state, but it's getting too pricey for anyone who lacks a trust fund. Aging BTV locals, I'm looking at you. We all want a sustainable town with genuine culture, but a dying town can only provide so much life. Let's find a way to keep it true while opening doors. Let's stop the knee-jerk NO reactions and find the right things to say YES to.
I can't tell if you prefer your treadmill, or appreciate it despite its apparent inferiority as a workout machine, or actually have a much darker understanding of "unconditional love" than I do... Either way, great read! Future FIt sounds intensely effective.
Flashing red lights go up every time I hear about another development project under Miro. I wonder who's getting big $$$ for all these projects? My suspicion is that their wallets are benefitting more than our citizens. I hope at least some of them are from VT...
Patrick Cashman, I see your point, and am glad you made it. Public schools do have an obligation to maintain political neutrality. Thanks for that perspective.
Snow Creek, I see your point, too. See my response to Patrick. And I agree that you have to look at a group's actions, not just their marketing. But the KKK? The purpose of the KKK is blatantly violent towards all peoples of non-white heritage. They've held lynchings, shot up homes, promoted segregation, pushed people of color out of towns, and systematically murdered, beaten, and terrorized thousands of people. They are a hate-based white supremacy group, as shown by their actions and their marketing. They're evil beyond all interpretations.
I haven't seen anything of the like from BLM to suggest that they're a black supremacy group, or even an anti-white group. If I'm missing something, someone please point it out.
Our society has told black people that they don't matter throughout our entire history. Why is it wrong for them to stand up and say that they do?
Seven Days, your bias is showing. That headline about leading from behind sets people up to take on the point of view that you've obviously chosen to run with, rather than leaving the door open for them to form their own opinions based on an objective report. You want to point out things about his leadership skills? Please do so, objectively! Yeesh. I thought YOU were the ones who were supposed to teach US about journalistic integrity.
Re: “The Bern Rekindles: Sanders Kicks Off His Second Bid for President”
Dem's have become experts at finding issues to cripple one another with, just like Repubs! Finally a candidate who will tackle the biggest threat to every single American citizen: Corporatocracy, and we're busy comparing him to stalin and talking about whether or not he rode the bus... good luck, folks!
