Bombs Away
LA trio Cherry Glazerr seem to be on a mission to destroy preconceived notions of femininity. The cartoonish image on the cover of their latest album, Apocalipstick, depicts front woman Clementine Creevy, guitar slung across her shoulder, standing beside what looks like an intercontinental ballistic missile about to launch — except that the missile is a giant tube of lipstick. Their bass-heavy songs ratchet between punk-rock fury and dreamy, lacquered pop and offer an eye-opening look into the devilish depths of Creevy’s inner life. Tracks such as “Told You I’d Be With the Guys” and “Trash People” showcase her candid self-reflection and fierce confidence. Cherry Glazerr perform on Thursday, August 3, at the Higher Ground Showcase Lounge in South Burlington. Mannequin Pussy open.
