Re: “Istanbul Kebab House

This place never disappoints and I have been eating here since it opened in the Essex location years ago; now on lower Church Street. I often recommend Istanbul Kabob House. My daughter, a friend and I had an early dinner on Sunday, starting with lavash bread and hummus. My favorite is the shrimp guvek although I opted for the lamb meatballs which were tasty and a generous portion. My friend stuck with his favorite of swordfish kabobs and said they were as delicious as ever, while my daughter who was visiting from out-of-state thoroughly enjoyed her chicken kabobs. These all are served with a savory (not spicy) rice and an assortment of tasty salad items on each plate.
Gluten-free: the menu is clearly labelled for g-f items, important to me as I have celiac disease and have found the owner is very helpful regarding g-f foods. So appreciated! (Avoid the lavash bread as sadly is not g-f.)
Wines: the menu suggests wine to pair with each dish and I have always been happy with the suggested wine.
Roof dining: lovely but seasonal.
