Re: “Trivial Pursuits: The Strange Allure of Low-Numbered License Plates

Maybe slow news day about the License Plate article but it is not always about the privilege. I have a low 3 digit license plate that was one that my parents got in the late 60's. Upon their death I had it transferred to me as a family reminder.

Re: “City Councilor Quits Job to Vote on Burlington Telecom Sale

I applaud Karen Paul for recognizing a conflict and recusing herself, and then making a tough decision because she wants to continue to try to right BT. Public ownership alrwady robbed Burlington taxpayers of 17 million under Kiss. A 14% interestvrate sure points to a poor chance of success. But hey Barb and Mark are all for spending taxpayers money on a poor business plan. I for one am sick of paying for the mistakes and fiscally irresponsible decisions of others

Re: “City of Burlington Breaks Up South End Encampment

The tough on crime and broken windows policing has a proven track record- Guliani used this approach to clean up NYC and I worked there prior and after his plans took effect and saw first hand how much better it was and how much safer it was

Re: “Bernie Sanders' Campaign War Chest Nears $3.9 Million

This seems like an appropriate time to bring this up, when Bernie was running for president why didn't he ever disclose his finances like everyone else did? He missed 3 deadlines. What was he afraid of...maybe his trashing the 1% would not go over so well if people saw he was one of the 1%. How many middle class people do you know that can put down over $600,000 cash for a seasonal camp?

Bernie, maybe if you publish your tax returns, then maybe Trump will follow suit?

Re: “Montpeculiar: Feeling Spurned, House Republicans Threaten to Boycott

ej...This is Vermont where you can pick and choose which laws and rules you want to follow and ignore the others. There is quite a precedence for this. Guess it depends on the group that decides to not follow the rules

Re: “Vermont Lawmakers Float Carbon-Combating Proposals

David Z,
In this age of texts, online comments, etc where you cannot pick up on the normal nuances that would communicate you are having fun or joking around etc, are not present and end up being misconstrued.
Even innocuous emails should be read before hitting the send to see if they might be misinterpreted. It is one of the big losses of our connected times

Re: “Vermont Lawmakers Float Carbon-Combating Proposals

Hannah, do you really think they will reduce the sales tax and return money to low income people? You obviously have not watched how the Dem controlled legislature has behaved over the past 20 or so years. Do you have any idea how this will negatively affect the rural areas of Vermont where there are no local stores, no local doctors, no local jobs? Where you have to drive 12-25 miles or more to buy food, or see a doctor. These are the areas where there are more elderly, more low income people than in Chittenden County.
Perhaps it is time to stop finding ways to take money and find ways to save money
