No other confection says Christmas quite like gingerbread — part spicy, part sweet. As the holiday season gets into full swing, families have assorted opportunities to get up close and personal with this delicious delight, from creating cute crafts to building and viewing houses. Read on to find gingerbread-themed events coming soon to a town near you.

• Through December, eagle-eyed explorers try to find 10 tiny gingerbread men hidden in store windows in downtown Middlebury. Click for info.

• Fanciful Cinderella-themed abodes are on display at the Gingerbread House Contest and Exhibit at the Vermont Folklife Center, Friday and Saturday, December 6 and 7; Tuesday to Saturday, December 10-14; and Tuesday to Friday, December 17-20. Click for info.
