Dark times call for renewed dedication to love, rebellion and revolution — and expressing anger and dismay is a fundamental part of the process. This iteration of Burlington’s S.P.A.C.E. Gallery annual exhibition gathers together works by local artists, many of whom have interpreted the wide-open theme as it applies to toxic masculinity, racism and America’s uncertain future. “We also looked for beauty in the darkness,” writes curator Christy Mitchell, “in death that leads to rebirth, and in diving into your own soul to attempt to answer the difficult questions and grow. How do positivity, truth and humor play into this learning and/or unlearning?”
