Re: “UVM Students Demand More Action on Campus Racism

I remember my college days when all races and creeds united together to protest the Vietnam war. My own father, a decorated WW II veteran, told me to go to college to get deferred from the draft. I remember his words well. He said "you don't want to go to this disaster of a war." It appears to me that the young people today are dividing more than uniting.

Re: “At Statehouse Rally, Vermont Students Join Call for Gun Control

I am a gun owner and hunter. I am all for full background checks when buying a gun at a gun dealer or at a gun show. I don't know all of the gun control proposal that these people would like to see become law. Hypothtically, lets say that all the controls being proposed that funding for enforcement is available, became law. We would then be able to have real data that could be analyzed to see what effect the new laws woul have on gun violence. I have my opinion about what the results would be, as others have their opinions. But only solid statistics can answer the question.

Re: “Walters: Green Mountain Power Promises Ratepayer Savings From Trump Tax Cut

Thanks Commisioner Tierney. This indicates that the Scott administration has begun to put the words public service back in to the DPS.

Re: “'Rebels' Supporters Win Round in Fight for Vote on Name Change

lI agree kawksw. Seven Days has this story as the number 1 story of the day. In the 1800s South Burlington was incorporated after its citizens rebelled against Burlingtons authority. That is where the name came from. End of story. I am happy to say that I don't live in Burlington. I did go to UVM, but I commuted. My kids went to Randolph Union High School, home of the Galloping Ghosts. They say that there is a movement among the local paranormal investigators to get rid of the name because the word galloping is demeaning to the spirits of dead people, aka ghosts, because it implies that they were animals when they were alive.

Re: “Walters: One Small Step on Volkswagen Settlement Funds

Annette, despite Adam's comments, I take you very seriously. Vermonters appreciate common sense, and I think your views make sense.

Re: “Burlington City Councilors Trade Barbs Over Telecom Talks

I'm sure glad I don't live in Burlington. People in Brookfield tend to get along pretty good without the drama of this soap opera.

Neal is one of the best. WCAX will benefit greatly from this. Good luck Neal.
