Re: “Middlebury College Cancels Forum Featuring Conservative Polish Leader

What about the rights of non-gay people & students who wanted to hear this man speak? When does what these gay rights activists are doing become hate crimes against non-special privilege groups? Everything has to be approved and blessed by them or nobody else can have anything to do with it?

Re: “Winooski's Historic Mansion Could Be Demolished

I have to wonder if the [lack of planning board] has considered at all, how the water supply and sewage disposal infrastructure in the area is going to handle that significant increase in population density.

Not to mention loss of permeable ground and it's associated storm water/runoff nightmares. Anyone else remember Hurricane Irene? It wasn't that long ago... Also electrical power supply, heating fuel issues. Is the local fire dept & other emergency services going to be equipped for this new burden? Schools...

It's not just the loss of a historic structure, even if it is currently being used as a slumlord rental. It's the dramatic alteration of an entire neighborhood. A developers wet dream/neighbors nightmare. What is it going to do to all the surrounding property values when this monolith removes the horizon from half the neighborhood?

Re: “Walters: Scott Signs Bill on Ethnic and Social Equity in Schools

Absent was any mention about hazing, harassment, bullying & persecution of the people by the nobles in the statehouse, city halls & police departments throughout the state. Just how many more bills, statutes, ordinances & policies do we really need trying to scrutinize & regulate peoples behavior?

Re: “Resident Alleges Burlington City Council Violated Open Meeting Law

Dave S - You make absurd assumptions. I'd love to see lots of things change in Burlington.
- Would love to see the lake not be a cyanobacteria cesspool that is a threat to human health... Hey, there's an actual worthy use of 5.8 million (MILLION) dollars.
- Would love to see preservation of historic places that, once gone, can never be replaced. That would be a change.
- Would love to see an end to the blatant corruption in city hall. That would be a huge change.

Re: “Resident Alleges Burlington City Council Violated Open Meeting Law

That's rich. "We've investigated ourselves and cleared ourselves of any wrongdoing" ((NOW, let's spend some taxpayer cash!!!!))
No money for education but 5.8 MILLION to redecorate a park with some grass and concrete pavers.

Re: “Senate Plan Would Allow School Districts to Delay Forced Mergers

Passed what by 28-3 Chuck? A vote by a bunch of career politicians who ignore what the people they are supposed to represent want and dishonor their oath of office day after day? Not impressed.

Numerous districts oppose these "forced" mergers, yet the lords & nobles decide it's going to be that way anyway.

Re: “Vermont Senate Backs 24-Hour Waiting Period for Gun Sales

JohnGreenburg,

The 2nd amendment has stood for almost 250 years, as well established custom, for most of that time entirely unchallenged except in rare cases where it was challenged by hostile professional politicians, the like of which the 2nd amendment was laid down to protect us against. The fact that some BAR Association shill, had the audacity and gall to attempt to twist and malign its wording to play a political shell game with our unalienable rights, is, by definition, the entire reason the amendment was written down in the first place. The courts opinions are exactly that, OPINIONS, not law.

As you claim to be a scholar of the constitution, tell me this. The first ten amendments are also known as distinct by another name, The Bill of Rights... Whose rights are you under the impression these are, the governments rights? The rights of the military, also discussed as the standing army being a threat to liberty that ought not to be kept up in a time of peace?
