Re: “Losing Streak: State Pays $8,000 a Month for Idle Lottery Machines

"We have tried to deploy them elsewhere. However, there are some hiccups to that," Flanagan said. "They need to be in an area where people who are underage can't play them."

And yet the Agency of Education somehow thinks funneling $26.4M annually from all lottery is somehow ok? What is Secretary Holcombe's position on this? Maybe she is too busy advocating against independent education options and hiring a slew of administrative personnel that were funded by this "of age" gambling revenue... which I suppose will also go to drowning out local voices through administrative bureaucracy, but hey, then the system will operate more efficiently, right?

Same goes for cannabis legalization and regulation... If you can make profit off of habitual patterns, why not regulate the compliance with, and control of, those patterns and use age limits to enforce limited distribution chains through to a public not educated enough on any of this by design...

And while at it, let's scare people with fears of kids eating gummy bear pot edibles to ensure government has a hand in the taking of these revenues through taxes and compliance initiatives too. More of the same.

May I suggest we start encouraging parents to take the responsibility of teaching "responsibility" to their kids?!? Why has modern society so complicated this ancient and functional piece of community participation? When did untested, and often self-interested politicians, have all the answers figured out on drinking and smoking between the ages of 18-21 but also decided that our kids were old enough to vote and go die for their country at 18?!? I am shocked at what passes for critical thinking these days.
