Pinching pennies? The inaugural Lil' Vermonters Consignment Event gives families more for their money. Gently used items for purchase include maternity and kids clothes (newborn to size 14), shoes, toys, games, baby gear and furniture. "You can save money by buying consigned clothes," says organizer Michelle Marchand, "and you can get money by selling the clothes your kids don't need anymore." Consigners will receive a 70-percent commission, and volunteers increase that figure with each shift they work. The community gathering is poised to become a semiannual sale; for year-round money-saving shopping tips, read "Secondhand Strategies" on page 18.
